GLM Finland – Areas of Work
The primary role of GLM Finland is to support and strengthen the work of GLM Zambia and Swaziland. The organisation’s work focuses on project management, advocacy, fundraising and increasing awareness of the work that GLM does at the grassroots level.
Project management
GLM Finland plans, implements and monitors projects in close collaboration with GLM Zambia and GLM Swaziland. The organisation has received funding for three development projects from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. GLM Finland also plans and coordinates smaller-scale projects with other partners.
Advocacy and communications
GLM Finland participates in various events, such as the World Village Festival in Helsinki and the Market of Possibilities. It engages in advocacy by producing content to the global education website Maailman laitamilla which was initially set up by Kepa. GLM Finland also actively develops the whole organisation’s communications and raises awareness of GLM’s activities.
Fundraising
GLM Finland raises funds through membership fees, participating in the Restaurant Day, organising music events and selling Zambian and Swazi handicrafts at various events. The organisation is also exploring new forms of fundraising.
Volunteering
GLM Finland is a volunteer-based group and new members are most welcome to join in! Contact us for more information by sending an email to: finland@glmglobal.org. Through GLM Finland, you also have a chance to go and volunteer at GLM Zambia.
