Organisational Capacity Building for Environmental Education and Community Development (2013-2014, with extension 2015-2016)

Green Living Movement Swaziland Capacity building

The project aims to strengthen the organisational capacity of GLM Eswatini and to increase knowledge of environmental issues in the partner communities. It is implemented in the peri-urban community of Msunduza, in the rural area of Dlangeni outside the capital Mbabane, and in the extension phase, also in Vusumnofto in the Northern part of the country. The project is GLM Eswatini’s first project carried out in collaboration with GLM Finland, and it is funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.

The project strengthens civil society in the region by organising capacity building workshops for GLM Eswatini and other NGOs in Mbabane, with the support of GLM Zambia. In addition, the project provides training in the communities on safe sanitation practices, sustainable management of natural resources, and waste management (minimisation, re-use and recycling). It also supports the construction of dry toilets and community recycling centres.
