GLM Finland – Areas of Work
The primary role of GLM Finland is to support and strengthen the work of GLM Zambia. The organisation’s work focuses on project management, advocacy, fundraising and increasing awareness of the work that GLM does at the grassroots level.
Project management
GLM Finland plans, implements and monitors projects in close collaboration with GLM Zambia. The organisation has received funding for four development projects from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. GLM Finland also plans and coordinates smaller-scale projects with other partners.
Advocacy and communications
GLM Finland participates in various events, such as the World Village Festival in Helsinki and the Market of Possibilities. GLM Finland has also organized workshops on climate change for students at Stadin Vocational College and Adult Education Center, and produced content for the Maailman laitamilla website. Additionally, GLM Finland is actively involved in developing communication for the entire GLM movement and informing about its activities.
Fundraising
GLM Finland raises funds for its activities in various ways. It organizes pop-up cafes in Turku and Helsinki and sells Zambian and Swazi handicrafts during different campaigns. Additionally, it offers consulting services to universities. GLM Finland continuously develops new fundraising methods. All proceeds from fundraising are directed to projects in Zambia.
